Diakon Adult Day Services receives Phoenixville foundation grant to aid low-income clients

Pottstown, Pa (Friday December 9, 2016)

Diakon Adult Day Services at Manatawny has received a $6,000 grant from the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation to subsidize the cost of providing care to participants in the Options program from the Greater Phoenixville area during 2017.

The grant covers the gap in reimbursement from Chester County and the adult day care center’s actual cost, according to Gina Cooke, director of the center, located on the campus of Manatawny Manor, Pottstown.

“This grant is extremely important in assuring our ability to care for older adults who need our assistance, particularly those who have fewer financial resources,” she says. “We are deeply grateful to the foundation for this critical support.”

The grant is equally important to families, Cooke adds, because they often depend on the program to provide care to a parent or other relative during the day when family members are at work or to provide a respite from their continual provision of care.

The $6,000 grant will be added to funds remaining from the health foundation’s 2016 grant of $12,000 to assist people in need.
